Guests are requested to vacate their rooms by 10.00am on the day of departure/ please notify reception should this not be convenient and a later checkout can be arranged. Please note there is a late checkout fee. If you wish to leave early you are welcome to settle your bill the night before departure. If you would like to store luggage for the day, please discuss with reception

We accept the following credit cards: American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Farmland or PayWave with Debit card which will incur a 2% credit card fee, American Express a 4% fee.
If you are settling your bill with Eftpos, Cash or via WeChat Pay and Alipay Apps you will not incur any extra transaction fees. Any “Charge Back” facilities cannot be accepted unless prior arrangements have been made through our Front Office Manager. If you wish to apply for company credit, please contact our General Manager, subject to credit checks, this can be arranged. Please allow approximately 14 days for the account to be set up

If you wish for your bed to be made when we service your room, please remove all personal belongings from your bed. In a daily service we will make your bed, remove your rubbish, replenish tea and coffee condiments and replenish towels (if required). We usually service your room between 10.00am – 1.00pm when you have vacated for the day – unless you have put your request no cleaning card outside your door in the morning
Lost Property - Nga Taonga Ngaro
Any non-perishable items left in your room will be held at reception for three months. If not claimed within three months these will be discarded or given to charity
Newspapers - Nupepa
The Press Newspaper is available Monday – Saturday and can be ordered through reception. If you would like a newspaper delivered to your room in the morning, please advise reception before 6.00pm the day prior

Cigarette and Vape Free - Hikareti me Vape Free
Tides Hotel, Bar and Eatery complex is now cigarette and vape free. If you wish to smoke or vape during your stay here please refrain from doing so outside your room or the bar – please move down to the main carpark outside our front doors, or you can stand outside on the footpath of Trafalgar Street and Hathaway Terrace. If you are seen or have been caught smoking anywhere else on our complex a $200 instant fine will be added to your bill without referral.If you have smoked in your room or out on the balcony an cleaning fee of $150.00 will also be charged to your card. Do not under any circumstance remove your fire alarm, if the fire alarm is removed during business hours a $350 reset fee will be charged, if outside of business hours a $500 reset fee applies.

Guest Laundry - Horoi Manuhiri
Washing and drying facilities are located on each floor, on the right at the far end of the hallway. The washing machines and dryers use $2 coins only and require $4 each to operate. Complimentary detergent is in each laundry in a dispenser on the wall behind the washing machines. Both machines are set for a cold-water wash and take half an hour each cycle. An outdoor clothes line is located on the ground floor, North end of the hotel. Please refrain from drying personal items on glass rails and terrace areas. Management reserve the right to ask you to remove items hanging outside of rooms

A same day service is available Monday - Friday for dry cleaning. Items to be in your dry-cleaning bag with your name and room number clearly printed on the bag and handed in to reception by 8.00am at the latest to get them back the same day

All electricity supplied is 230 volts. You will need to insert your key card under your main light switch for your power to connect. Adaptors available at reception for a $10 bond

In the event of an alarm, FIRE EXITS are at each end of the building. Evacuation notices are on the back of your entrance door. Please NOTE YOUR CLOSEST EXIT. All guests are to assemble in the car park area outside reception. If you are deemed to have set off the alarms, or have deactivated a fire alarm by removing it from the ceiling, a reset/ call out fee of $350.00 during business hours and $500.00 outside of business hours will be automatically charged to your room without referral

For your security there is only one entrance to the Hotel between 11.00pm and 6.00am. To enter please pick up the night phone at the main entrance and our night porter will be right with you.
Parking - Waka Waka
We have free parking which is subject to availability. If there are no available carparks in our main carpark, more parking is available down Hathaway Terrace at the end of the Hotel. Management cannot accept responsibility for any valuables left in vehicles. These may be left in reception for safe keeping. If you wish to reserve a carpark there is a charge of $15 per carpark per day – please enquire at reception. Our carpark is for the exclusive use of Tides Hotel and Tides Bar and Eatery clients’ vehicles only – all other vehicles may be towed away at their owner’s expense. The owners of Tides Hotel accept no responsibility for damage to vehicles or their contents whilst using the carpark.

If you have an Electric Car that requires charging our Charge Point is located on the far side of the hotel next to our laundry – please ask reception for directions. We have an adaptor for our car charger if you require one this requires a $30 deposit.

Swimming Pool - Puna Kauhoe
Located at the front west of the complex. Our pool is chlorine treated. Open from 8.00am to 8.30pm daily during the summer months. Our pool is heated to 25-27 ◦C. Pool towels are provided in the basket next to the pool. Children must be supervised at all times. Absolutely no glass is allowed in the pool area at any time. Please ask at the bar if you require plastic cups to pour your drinks into
Mail / Postage - Mēra / Poutāpeta
Unfortunately, We do sell different sized courier bags to be delivered throughout New Zealand which if you leave in reception, we can arrange for these to be collected. We do sell postcards and have National and International stamps for postcards / letters
Taxi’s & Transport – Waka & Kawe
Our preferred taxi service in town is Nelson City Taxis. You can book a taxi through their free phone number 0800 108 855. Please make sure to tell them your name and room number, alternatively you can dial ‘0’ on your phone and reception will be able to book one for you.
Our Nelson City bus station is a 5-minute walk away (across the bridge up Trafalgar street then a right onto Bridge Street), or you could try Uber – not so good in the morning – better during the day and in the evening.
If you are driving somewhere and need directions, please pop down to reception and we can assist.
Television Channels - Pouaka hakaata
Each room has been fitted with its own sky box with 50+ channels. Any programmes with an R-18 viewing standard will automatically be blocked off before 8.30pm due to New Zealand TV standards for accommodation providers, but after 8.30pm will not require a pass code

Noise Policy - Kaupapa Haruru
We wish to ensure everyone’s stay with Tides Hotel is an enjoyable, comfortable and a quiet one.
With this in mind we apply a strict policy to noise. To prevent any disappointment to you, please ensure that you read the following hotel policy concerning noise in the hotel.
No Parties on the premises
Tides Hotel has a zero-tolerance policy on parties being held in the rooms.
A party being defined as: Any situation where the noise level from the Hotel room is deemed too high thereby disturbing other guests and/or the Hotel residents. Any situation where excessive traffic to/from the room, causing noise is identified. Any situation where the maximum number of guests allowed per room is exceeded, maximum being the number of person/s stated on the registration card upon check in.
In the event that any room/guest is identified as having a party, or making excessive noise, the hotel reserves the right to immediately request all occupants of the room up to, and including, the guest who has registered for the room to vacate the premises. In the event that eviction does occur, the registered guest will be charged for that night's accommodation and for any expense resulting from additional cleaning of the Hotel room, replacement of any furniture/ fixtures/ fitting breakage, as well as any required repairs and costs incurred from any guests affected by disturbance without referral.
Additional actions that may result in eviction
Tides Hotel reserves the right to immediately evict any guest, visitor or member of the public for the following reasons, but not limited to:
-The throwing of objects over the hotel balconies
-Wilful damage to hotel and/or resident property
-Physical or verbal assault/abuse of the hotel staff, other guests, members of the public on the hotel premises
-Any behaviour deemed as a potential safety threat to others
-Any incident for which the Police are required to attend
Consequences of eviction
In the event that any person requested to vacate the hotel premises fails to adhere to this request, the Police will be called which may result in further action being taken against the person/s in question.
